About the project
#1 Triton and #2 Bacchus dancer
Over the last years, I’ve been working on the theme of empathy and minorities and telling stories that opened the doors of my memory, transporting me to my childhood and pre-puberty.
Now, as an adult, I decided to give the bodies I wanted to have, the creatures I wanted to transform into, the superheroes, mythological gods, or even objects as a present to my childhood Self.
Inspired by bedroom mirrors, I began to print those shapes connected to a face that is my own caricature, as from a children’s book.
The result has the structure of Antique images, reminding me when sailing in my father’s boat, I wanted to be the dolphins that accompanied us in the sea, or when in my bed, reading the tales of mythology, wanting to be a god of joy, of dance, of abundance.
This diptych is the beginning of a series I’m starting to make.
